Roy T. Brophy & Associates

Roy T. Brophy, who has been an active builder in Sacramento since 1952, was President of Roy T. Brophy & Associates. His company, formerly the Gannon and Brophy Organization, was the first true condominium builder in the Sacramento Valley.

Roy is a Life Director of the National Association of Home Builders. He is also an active member and Trustee of SACTO, the Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization.

Among his many industry activities, Roy served as President of the Land Developers of Sacramento in 1959 and President of the Home Builders Association of Sacramento in 1960. Roy felt there was much duplication of efforts between the two organizations and is responsible for their very successful joining.

Mr. Brophy has served as Chairman of the Sacramento Building Industry Association Land Developers Committee, President of the Building Industry Association of Superior California and was a member of the County of Sacramento Sub-Standard Housing Appeals Board.

Roy has been a dedicated member of the Sacramento community for many years. His community involvement includes serving as Vice President of the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, Director of the San Juan YMCA, Director of the Sacramento Safety Council, and Vice President and Board member of the San Juan Mercy Hospital.

He has served as a Trustee for numerous California institutions of higher learning. Such positions include Trustee for the California State University system, California Community Colleges, and the California Maritime Academy.

​Roy's dedication to improving the quality of higher education has earned him many well- deserved recognitions. He received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from San Jose State University in 1987. In 1979, he was honored with the President's Distinguished Service Award from Humboldt State University, and in 1973 received a Distinguished Alumni Award from California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo.
