Donald P. Kennedy is Chairman of The First American Financial Corporation with home offices in Santa Ana. The title firm has branches, subsidiaries, affiliates or agents throughout the United States, in Guam, Puerto Rico, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. Revenues in 1998 exceeded $2.8 billion.
A graduate of Stanford University, Donald became Associate Counsel of First American's predecessor, Orange County Title Company in 1948 after receiving his law degree from the University of Southern California School of Law. Don was elected Vice President of the firm in 1951, Executive Vice President in 1958, and President in 1963.
His professional affiliations include serving as Past President of the California Land Title Association; and Past President of the American Land Title Association, where he has chaired numerous posts. In 1989, Don was inducted into the California Building Industry Hall of Fame, and in 1995 received the UCI Real Estate Sumigarden Award. Don is also a member of the Orange County and California Bar Associations.
Having always been active in community affairs, Don is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of Chapman University, as well as Chairman of the Athletic Committee. He is also a member of the Athletic Committee of Stanford University, and received the Ralph Clark Distinguished Citizen Award, given by the Orange County Sports Hall of Fame in 1994. Don is Chairman of the Orange County Business Committee for the Arts; Vice President of South Coast Repertory; serves on the Executive Committee of the World Affairs Council of Orange County; is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Health Care Foundation of Orange County; and a Trustee of Bowers Museum.In the past, Don served as Orange County Chairman of the U.S. Savings Bond program for 20 years. He is a Past President of the Santa Ana-Tustin Community Chest; Past President of the Santa Ana Country Club; and Past Chairman of the Golden Eagle Boy Scouts of America.
​Don is the grandson of First American's founder, C.E. Parker. He and his wife, Dorothy, are parents of a son, Parker, Attorney-at-Law, and President of First American Financial and Chairman of its principal subsidiary, First American Title Insurance Company; and two daughters, Elizabeth Myers and Amy Healey. He and Dorothy have six grandchildren.
