Rancho Mission Viejo

Mr. Johnson is responsible for the design and implementation of all Ranch Mission Viejo community development. He oversees all aspects of urban design, development, construction, builder land sales and administration, as well as the development and operation of the Community Master Maintenance Corporation and Community Services Organization.

Rancho Mission Viejo, a 23,000-acre Ranch in south Orange County, California, has been held by members of the O’Neill/Avery/Moiso family since 1882. It is both Orange County’s last active cattle ranch and the region’s second largest privately owned land holding.Rancho Mission Viejo serves as the master planner and developer of the new Rancho Mission Viejo community, which encompasses approximately 6,000 acres of The Ranch. Over the next two decades, the Rancho Mission Viejo community is expected to offer 14,000 homes (including 6,000 active adult residences) within multiple mixed-use residential villages, and up to five million square feet of non-residential uses.

In addition, schools, parks and recreational facilities, shopping and employment centers will be developed, as well as an inter-connected system of arterial roadways and hiking/biking trails, carefully integrated with some of the Ranch’s agrarian spaces and natural habitat. The first village to open on The Ranch is Sendero, which consists of a wide range of 1,227 homes (including 286 homes within the gated 55+ enclave of Gavilan and 286 apartments). Sendero opened during the weekend of June 29-30, 2013.Prior to joining Rancho Mission Viejo, Johnson was a project manager for the Fieldstone Company’s Newport Beach office in Orange County, where he was responsible for the coordination and completion of all aspects of various homebuilding projects, including land acquisition, entitlement, product development, marketing, construction and homebuyer warranty.

Johnson earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Studies/Engineering from California State University at Northridge and received a Master’s in Business Administration at California State College, San Bernardino. He also holds a B-1 General Building Contractor’s license. Johnson is a Past President of the Orange County Building Industry Association and has served on the Executive Board for the Building Industry Association/Southern California. In 2013, he was named “Person of the Year” by the 55+ Housing Council of Southern California/Building Industry Association.
