DALE STUARD

Stuard Industries, Inc.

Dale Stuard, who has over 40 years of experience in building homes, apartments and commercial buildings, is Chairman of the Board of Stuard Industries, Inc. Stuard Industries is owned and operated by Dale and his wife Bea, and develop residential projects primarily in Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.

Dale’s building industry career began in 1952 when he became an apprentice carpenter. Two years later, he acquired a State Contractor’s License and for the next 10 years, he engaged in the construction of premium custom homes for the ranchers of Orange and Imperial Counties.

In the late 1960’s, Dale formed American National Housing, Inc., and entered the production housing business. Between 1968 and 1980, he produced approximately 4,500 homes in Southern California and Phoenix, Arizona.

In 1980, he sold American National Housing to Britain’s largest homebuilder; Barratt Development, Ltd.  Remaining a vital force in the newly formed company, Dale ran its United States operations as Chairman and President of Barratt American, their United States holding company.

In 1981, he was appointed to Barratt’s Board as a Director, and acquired McKeon Construction for Barratt several months later. After reorganizing the two companies into six operating divisions throughout California, Dale left Barratt in 1982 to form Stuard Industries, Inc.

Active in state and local homebuilding associations, Dale has served as President, Vice President, Secretary and Life Director of the Orange county Chapter of the Building Industry Association of Southern California. He has also served as President, Vice President, member of the Executive Committee, Life Director, State Director and member of the Political Action Executive Committee of the Building Industry Association of Southern California. Dale has been very active in the California Building Industry Association where he served as a member of the Executive Committee, Chairman of the California Building Industry Association-PAC, delegate and Life Director. In addition, he has served California as a member of the State Housing Task Force and the SOLARCAL Council.

In 1988, Dale served as the President of the National Association of Home Builders. He has served the National Association of Home Builders as an Area Vice President, national representative, member of the Executive Committee, Life Director, Life Spike, Trustee and member of the Executive Committee for BUILD-PAC. Dale has also served as Chairman of the Single-family Housing Committee, member of the Clean Water Task force, and Chairman of the Environmental Committee of the National Association of Home Builders. In 1994, Dale was inducted into the National Housing Hall of Fame. Dale is a recipient of several commendations for services rendered to the building industry including the 1977 Building Industry Association of California Achievement Award.

Dale takes pride in the development of his communities, and has served as President and Trustee of the District Board of Education and Chairman of the Foundation Valley Planning Commission, while his wife Bea served as City Treasurer. Dale and Bea have two sons and a daughter, all of whom work in the homebuilding industry.
