Hayman Homes, Inc.

Alvin Hayman is Chairman of the Hayman Companies, Hayman Homes, Inc., Hayman Development, Inc., and Hayman Brothers, Inc., which handles real estate development, building, sales, and property management. The firm was started by his grandfather in 1889. The firm has built continuously in San Francisco and San Francisco Bay Area for the past 100+ years without interruption. Al's father and uncle were responsible for much of the building in the Mission, Sunset, Richmond, and Pacific Heights districts of San Francisco.

Among Hayman's residential developments have been Dorado Terrace, Greenhouse Place and Diamond Heights in San Francisco; Almaden Oaks, San Jose; Miramonte Oaks, Miramonte Place and Blue Lake Square, Mountain View; The Oracles and Hayman Place, Los Altos; Mesa Heights and Callado Court, Atherton; Laurom Park, Country Lane and Royal Ann Estates, Sunnyvale; Normandy Heights, Hillsborough; Rancho Dorado and Main Chance Estates, Walnut Creek; and developments in Pacifica, Santa Rosa and Castro Valley .

In addition to these residential projects, Hayman has developed apartment and commercial properties in the Bay Area. The firm looks forward to the 21st Century, as his sons, Jon, and James, are now responsible for the operations of the business.

Mr. Hayman entered the building business in 1946 after service in the Pacific with the Marine Corps during World War II. He attended the University of California at Berkeley, graduating with a degree in Business Administration.

He has been a member of various councils of the Urban Land Institute. Governor Edmund G. Brown appointed him to serve as a member of the Rumford Commission on Housing and was a national representative of the National Association of Home Builders. He is a Life Director of the Building Industry Association in California, Life Director of the National Association of Home Builders, past Director of the San Francisco Real Estate Board, and the California Real Estate Association. Mr. Hayman is also a Certified Property Manager, and a member of the Community Associations Institute.

Hayman is an active supporter of Bay Area universities including the University of California, Stanford University, Santa Clara University, St. Mary's and the University of San Francisco. He is also a patron of the San Francisco Opera, Ballet, Symphony, Museums and Zoo. He has been active with the Boy Scouts, Big Brothers, the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, American Lung Association, and the Salvation Army.

​Al Hayman and his wife, Irene, live in San Francisco. They have four children and ten grandchildren.
